Vote
When and where can I vote?
Voting for the Election re-run is Monday 21st - Thursday 24th May.
You will be able to vote between 10am - 4pm on these days.
Polling stations will be at the following locations:
GREENWICH CAMPUS
Dreadnought Library & Student Centre, QM040
AVERY HILL CAMPUS
Mansion Main Building, Mansion Site & The Dome, Southwood Site
MEDWAY CAMPUS
Pembroke Cafe Social Space
How do I vote?
When you arrive at the polling station you will be required to show your student card and have your student number noted down. You will then be shown to a polling booth.
Voting is done by a preferance system. For each available position you will see a list of names. You vote by putting your preferred candiate at the top of the list, then adding your second and so on until you have no preference between the other candidates. There is also an option to Re-open nominations (R.O.N). You can select this if you do not want any of the remaining candidates to take the post and would like to see nominations reopened.
How does the voting system work?
In the elections for Sabbatical posts votes will initially be counted based on the candidate who you put as your first preference. If your number ‘1’ candidate receives the lowest amount of votes then they are eliminated and the ballots that listed them as 1st preference will be recounted based on the 2nd preference, this continues until one candidate has over 50% of the votes assigned to them.
In the case of the elections for NUS Delegates & Student Representatives where there are multiple positions available, the same method of voting and counting applies except that when a candidate receives a certain quota of the vote they are elected and their votes are redistributed in the same way that an eliminated candidates votes are.
