GIAG - Employability and EntrepreneurshipGive it a Go is back with a programme of events and opportunities for you to enhance you CV. A change is as good as a rest - or so they say - so why not try something different, meet different people and add an all-important line to your job applications of the future!
 
Here’s what we have lined up. You must contact us as advised if you want to get involved in any of the sessions.
 
Please note that sessions may change times and venues and that some sessions require a minimum number of students to sign up before they are run. 
 

Writing online as a way of getting free tickets

Do you like writing? Would you like free tickets for theatre or sports or free copies of books? Maybe other freebies too? Learn how to set up your own blog, how to publicise it through Twitter and other social networks and how you might be able to use it to see much more of London than you’re seeing now – at a much lower price!

Interview Skills – Practice Your Interview Techniques!

Interviews matter. They unlock the door to that dream job, to a place on the course you always wanted, to an end of writing out more application forms! This session will allow you to be interviewed for any post for which you supply the details (eg from job advertisements). You will get individual feedback on your interview and watch others being interviewed. Run by an interviewer with over 20 years experience.

Setting Up a Sports Club or Society

Monday 30th April – Activities Room, Cooper Building, Greenwich, 12pm

Ever wondered why we have some sports clubs and societies but not others? It’s because all clubs and societies are student led, which means we need students to come to us with ideas about what they want to see! If you have an idea for a club or society then come along to this drop in session where we will take you through the process of setting up a club or society and answer your questions.

University Challenge

Wednesday 2th May – Activities Room, Cooper Building, Greenwich, 2pm

Your chance to compete against other teams in a university challenge style quiz with questions just as hard as those posed by the Paxman himself! 
 
Get involved: Two teams of four are needed as a minimum – email giag@gre.ac.uk with the names and e-mail addresses of your four team members or e-mail as an individual and let us find a seat on a team for you.  

 

Budgeting Skills for Sports Clubs, Societies and Voluntary Organisations

Thursday 3rd May – Avery Hill (room TBC)
Friday 4th May – Activities Room, Cooper Building, Greenwich, 11.30am

Brush up on your budgeting skills by learning how to make the most of what’s available! We will be working with example budgets for imaginary organisations to work on skills needed to write, adjust and stick to a budget. Although we will be using a group activity budget as an example, anyone is welcome as the skills can be used for all different types of budgeting!

Perfect Presenting – How to get it right, and tips for if it goes wrong!

Worried about doing presentations as part of your course, for job interviews, or for any other reason? Then don’t be! We can’t promise we’ll make you into the next Steve Jobs, but we will take you through the skills, tips and tricks that confident presenters use to make you think “WOW!” when watching them.

Fancy a career working with children? Most places want you to have some experience in working with children, but this can sometimes be difficult to find. We’ll help you with suggestions of some of the more unusual ways you can get experience of working with children, and also advice on what it’s like!
