SUUG CLUBS & SOCIETIES

The end of term is rapidly approaching and you should be giving consideration to your new committee and budget submission for 2008/09. Pop into the Sports & Societies office at Avery Hill or if you are based at Greenwich book an appointment with Rachel at R.Rogers@gre.ac.uk to run through the necessaries so that your society and its members don’t miss out.

Handover information can be found at the back of the Clubs and Societies Handbook but below is a brief run down of what to remember

HAND OVER PROCEDURE

Successful hand-over does take time, but will prove invaluable for coming years and ensure a lasting legacy. Here are some considerations:

1.                  Elect your committee for the next academic year. You can get advice on how to do this effectively from VP Sports & Societies.
2.                  If you cannot elect a new committee for any reason, write a summary of what you did and how you did it, with any relevant materials. Give this to an appropriate member of the Union who will keep it for you. This way if anyone else wants to re-start the Club they will have a head start.
3.                  It is good practice to develop a club portfolio in any case, as this will be a useful tool during hand-over.
4.                  Work with the new committee while they are planning their activities for the next year. You can help save a great deal of time with tips on useful allies, companies, organisations and ways to get things done well and quickly. Pass on what you have learnt.
5.                  Spend time working on the individual roles within the committee and discussing past projects. This should help prevent them from repeating some of your mistakes and encountering similar problems.

  BUDGETS 2008/09

The budget process can be an arduous task so please ensure that you think about your plans for the coming year.  Monies allocated to your society are based on the forms you submit to the union book an appointment with Rachel at R.Rogers@gre.ac.uk to go through this.  If this is not done then you may not get what you ask for and only the minimum amount will be allocated to you.  ALL BUDGETS must be submitted to the Clubs & Societies office by FRIDAY 6th MAY 2008 forms are available by e-mail request.
