If sport isn't your "thing" SUUG also offers a wide range of student societies for you to join, share interests and meet new people. There are societies based at both the Greenwich and Avery Hill campuses and they meet at various times. There are no lectures on Wednesdays to allow students to participate in student sports and recreational activities so most societies meet then. Societies organise a variety of events throughout the year which are good fun to get involved with.
Current societies include:
- Afro Caribbean
- Chinese
- Christian Union
- Hindu
- Japanese
- Labour
- Poker
- Law
- LGBT
- Mardi Gras
- Muslim
- Nigerian
- Sikh
- Environmental Awareness
- International
- Social
- Spiritural
- CATE
- Turkish Society
If none of these are what you want, why not set up your own society. All you need is 12 other students who share your interest, fill out a couple of forms and you can be up and running. Contact Sally Appleton Vice President Sports and Societies for details. Contact Sally by phone on 02083319599, by email at s.appleton@gre.ac.uk or drop by her office at 1 Boleyn Court, Southwood Site, Avery Hill
