The role of the Vice President Campaigns and Communications is one with a wider scope than the other posts. You have a great deal of freedom (within these guidelines) to decide on which campaigns you wish to focus on. This position also focuses on the political interests of the student body because of its campaign base.
- Be the principal Political Sabbatical Officer with responsibility for the organisation, co-ordination and operation of the Students' Unions campaigns.
- Have responsibility for the organisation and co-ordination of the Students' Union's publicity and publications, specifically the Sarky Cutt, Annual Report and Get Out.
- To encourage participation in, liaise with, and support the Sarky Cutt's editorial team.
- Proof read the Sarky Cutt and be responsible for articles printed in it.
- Advise and co-ordinate other Students' Union Officers on campaigning matters and materials.
- Act as the Students' Unions first point of contact for the media in absence of the President.
- Facilitate the publicising and co-ordination of all elections for NUS, including conference.
- Act as an ex-officio on Sports & Societies Council.
- Accept disciplinary charges from the student body about students.
Which Students' Union Committees does the VP Campaigns & Communications sit on?
- Finance & General Purposes Committee - provide a fully financial plan to the Students' Representative Council and University Court; select an auditor and be responsible for the completion of the audited accounts which are presented to the University Court and Union General Meeting; be responsible for compiling the Annual Report; consider complaints made by the student body against students.
- Students' Representative Council - write reports for this body on your progress and any University Boards & Committees which you attend.
- Students' Representative Council Executive.
- Staffing Committee - depending on who is drawn by lots.
