Rugby Union (Mens & Womens)

Who are we?

If you're interested in playing Rugby,Men's whether you are a beginner or an experienced player, come down and get involved (we are a very welcoming group). Last year saw our skill level vary from international level to having never thrown (or caught) a ball in their life.

Joining a sports team changes your university experience and we take our socialising just as seriously as our rugby.

Last year the Men's 1st saw a transitional and mainly positive year:

Our pre-season saw us win an under 21's 10's tournament in October.
We came 4th in the league but could have performed so much better if we had more commitment within the side.
6 of us won the EM cup in Caen representing with the universities of east London.

The position we finished in the league personally left me feeling very bitter. But with the support of our new sponsors Burton old cottage brewery and Book Club Racing we are looking to ensure that we do not under perform again.

We also put out a second team that comfortably beat Hult business school aswell as having great sucess competeing in multiple RFU Merit festivals around London. This year we are hoping to have even greater second team success.

We train every Monday night at Blackheaths Well Hall Ground (286 to Well Hall road / Kidbrooke lane) with a 7.30pm start and occasionally have fitness sessions on Fridays from 7 at Avery Hill Campus. It is a 5 minute drive from Avery Hill and a mini-bus may be provided. Our matches are on Wednesdays, normally with a kick off time of 2pm.

If you have any questions give me,Tom or Harry shout:

We will be able to provide answers to any questions you may have. More information is available at the Facebook page and pitchero page (below).

If this is not for you: no worries. I'd still recommend looking at other sports teams or societies. It will make your university experience so much better.

See you in September,
